Obituary of Arthur "Bud" Lee Ready, Jr.

Arthur “Bud” Lee Ready, Jr., Leap Year Baby, passed away from cancer on February 10, 2021 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Ready, Sr. and Dorothy Hoseth; sisters, Jean Miller and Carol Ann Sideen. Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rae; children, Vickie (Bob) Johnson, Kathi (David) Weidner, Tom (Patti) Ready, Debbie (Randy) Welter, and Wendy (Kevin) Harley; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl (Gay) Ready; and Bud’s Forest Lawn Cemetery family. Bud started cutting grass at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Maplewood at the age of 16 and retired from the Park as office manager. Bud would say that he really never left. He later served as president of the Forest Lawn Cemetery Association until he passed away. He took great pride in all of the positions he held including cutting the grass for 71 years. Bud was a member of the Good Samaritan Society - Maplewood family council and was president during part of his 32 years of volunteering. He had a passion for cars and was a member of the Capital City Antique Car Club as well as the North Star Lincoln & Continental Owners Club. Bud was also a member of the St. Paul East Parks Lions Club where he served as president for two terms. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation & burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Maplewood.
