Nelson, David Alan, age 61, of St. Paul, MN passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 30, 2021. Retired from a career in manufacturing, Dave had been dealing with health challenges. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors from his days as an Eagle Scout and later Scoutmaster with Troop 25 on St. Paul’s Eastside. While born in an Army hospital in the state of Washington, Dave grew up in St. Paul, graduating from Johnson High School before attending North Dakota State University. He was a proud member of the Civil Air Patrol, having soloed a plane before he even had a driver’s license. Dave is survived by his parents Lyle and Myrna Nelson, sons Matthew Nelson and Benjamin (Laura) Carlson, granddaughter Clara Carlson, brother Scott (Jayne) Nelson and sister Karen (Sandra Tennyson) Nelson. Funeral service will be held at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1669 Arcade St., St. Paul, MN 55106, on Thursday, August 5th, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, service will be at 11:00 am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Boy Scouts of America.
