We were Butch and Butch of the Ramsey County Beaches in 1965 &66. Two six foot four lifeguards. Our brides were friends and we married them on the same day in 1967. Butch drove a 1947 Cadillac hearse and I drove a 1948 Cadillac coupe, Life was fun! Access denied on some of the parties we went to!
Over the many decades we stayed in touch. Whether it was a week or two years of absence, we always picked up where we left off. I used my 1917 Pierce Arrow to be the limo for the 40th anniversary tour of Butch and Joan in 2007. Their wonderful kids were with us. Butch and Joan visited me in Pensacola when I was there on my sailboat.
Butch and Joan came to my 80th birthday party in September of 2021. Another piece of my life’s puzzle is missing. I will miss Royal Butch Smith a lot. Marlin Butch Hansen

Butch has been a big part of our life for many years (decades). It was sometimes hard to keep up with his active lifestyle but it was always fun and rewarding. Butch was a good friend who will be remembered with fondness. His love and care for Joan was inspirational. We are grateful to be called his friends. Among the many memories are: hunting, fishing, camping, vacations, road trips, biking, Christmas Dinners, Beaver Bay, Windsong.

Royal gave realtors a good name. He was smooth, thoughtful and honest. I did a fair amount of business with Royal and Joan. There are always some issues and problems that arise when buying or selling a home, and when they did you could clearly see Royal go into thinking mode. That's when I knew everything was going to be OK. Then he would deliver his master plan with a smoothness like none other. Aside from business I admired him socially as well. So long for now, Royal. Thanks for the memories.
