D. Gay Jafvert posted a condolence
Saturday, March 18, 2023
My husband Lloyd & I (Gay) Jafvert began our married life in the early 70s as members of Roger's church GA in Mpls.. We were so blessed to have Pastor Roger & his wife Jean as a wonderful ministerial team. It was a real fellowship church of believers with a Bible Study group called Pairs & Spares, an evang. group, some our choir members sang with the 3 day Billy Graham Crusade in Mpls., GA participated with Plymouth Christian Youth Center in north Mpls... Pastor Roger baptized both of our daughters. We have remained lifelong friends with both Roger & Jean.
NOTE: It was way back as a new member of GA, that Pastor Roger asked me to teach childrens' Sunday School. I answered "I'm not ready". This led me to ask myself "Why am I not ready?" which began my search of faith to become a born again Christian. I am so Thankful for his question!

Roger!
For as long as Roger and Jean have been married it's hard to speak of one without the other. Anyone that has know them for some time recognizes Jean is more vocal. However, Roger listened to issues around him, deeply studied circumstances and when he spoke, what he said, was worth listening to…contemplating.
For a season, they both were an island in troubled waters and though our ways have parted long ago, their insight, wisdom and generosity are still producing stability, gland memories…a better life. Thank you both.
One has crossed over to the other shore, Out of sight but not out of Mind!
In loving memories, Thank you Roger!

Roger was such a wise and caring pastor. I got to know him while serving as an intern at St. Paul Lutheran while he was serving as visitation pastor. His dedication to caring for those he visited was heartfelt. As I was preparing to become a pastor he was helpful in guiding me into that role. As time went on I connected with Roger through Tanzania meetings. It was a shared joy to support this ministry that was so helpful to partners both in the St. Paul Synod as well as in the Iringa Diocese. During these last few years it was hard to see his health failing. The promise of enteral life is such a source of hope. Randy and I wish Roger's family God's peace and comfort during this tender time. We will be out of town at the time of his celebration of life, but our thoughts will be with you. Blessings and peace to you, Marla and Randy Amborn.

Roger will be remembered as a very caring and compassionate paster with the congregations he served. He lived his life of service not only in the Lutheran Church but also through his membership in Rotary International. I had the honor of working together with Roger on Rotary international projects and international youth exchanges for over 20 years. The Lutheran Church and Rotary International benefited immensely from his inspiring passion for service above self. Roger was a tremendous example of a faith filled life, well lived. Rest in peace in glory, Roger!
Honored to have been your friend,
Rick Pratt
