Obituary of Richard Thomas West

Richard Thomas West, age 74 of Brooklyn Park MN went to his final resting place in heaven on October 15, 2023 at Abbot NW surrounded by many loved ones. Richard succumbed to an unexpected heart attack but suffered no pain when he passed. Richard’s funeral service will be held at Saints Luke and James Episcopal Church at 4557 Colfax Ave. South Minneapolis, 55419 on October 26th at 1PM with Reverend Susan Daughtry officiating. His ashes will eventually be interred in the Memorial Garden of Saints Luke and James Episcopal Church. Richard was born in Minneapolis; his parents were Tom and Mary West. He graduated from St. Louis Park High and attended Mankato State for 3 years. He found his lifelong job at Hennepin County as a financial worker in 1978 and loved his work until he retired in 2012. Richard’s passion was his family and he loved music beyond words as he had a collection of hundreds of old vinyl albums. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Rayne, his 2 sons Dylan and Dustin, and his beloved step-daughter Shawna Thompson, his sister Debbie (Chuck) Youngquist, nephews Cody and Charlie and niece Jordan. His nephew Joe Dupont, who was like a son to him and grandchildren Lillian and Samuel Rocha with whom he had a fantastic relationship, and a fondness for his step-daughter Vicki Rocha, and his mother-in-law Barbara, as well as his many special friends. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved parents Tom and Mary West. Richard will be truly missed. In memory of Richard, donations can be made to any Alzheimer’s charity of your choice.
