Obituary of Marlene Diane Bowman

Marlene Diane (Mullner) Bowman, age 80, of White Bear Lake, MN passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024. Beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Marlene was born on March 30, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from Washington High School class of 1961. After high school she finished beauty school to become a beautician and then took a job with the State of Minnesota. She worked as an administrative assistant in various departments for 33 years before her retirement from the Minnesota Department of Human Services in March 2001. Marlene enjoyed spending her free time with loved ones playing cards and boardgames. She was very passionate about her faith in God. She was kind, loving, and caring to everyone and enjoyed meeting new people. She was full of life, love, and joy and would become anyone’s friend within a matter of minutes.
In July of 2023, Marlene was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and given 6-9 months to live. She lived these remaining months of her life with grace and dignity. She always stayed positive and optimistic throughout her courageous battle with cancer. She never gave up hope and passed away peacefully.
Marlene was loved by many and will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Our family wants to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to the Regions Hospital Oncology Specialist Cancer Center team of doctors for their exceptional care and attention to Marlene. We also want to thank Boulder Ponds Senior Living staff for their attentive care and kindness that they showed her. In the 8 months Marlene was at Boulder Ponds, she made many friends among staff members and residents. She was involved in activities and events, had joy, and gave joy to others. Lastly, we want to especially thank the Lakeville Hospital Homecare and Hospice staff who during her last 4 weeks of her life, were unbelievably wonderful. They came with a team of the kindest professionals who cared for her adding additional love, and companionship, to her remaining weeks of life. The Hospice staff said Marlene was a bright light, clever lady, and a joy to visit.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marvina Mullner. Survived by her siblings Bev Greenley (Kurt), Joyce Biever (John), Tom Mullner (Marlyn), her two sons Jim Bowman (Amy), Mike Bowman, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, Memorial Service 12:00-12:30 PM at Anderson Funeral Home. Christian Burial at 1:00 PM, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
