Obituary of Richard Schaubschlager
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard “Dick” Schaubschlager was born December 31,1938, and died peacefully at home with his loving wife of 27 years, Mary, by his side, on April 14, 2024.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Schaubschlager, his sister, Joyce and brother-in-law Jim Shangle, brother-in-law Frank Heckel, and sister-in-law Kathleen Schaubschlager. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary, loving daughter, Dana (Craig) Guth, sisters Marilyn Heckel and Susan (Donna) Forbes, and brothers Duane, Gary, Joe (Kim) Schaubschlager. He is also survived by his step-daughter Dawn (Andy) Plessel, step-son Joseph Witha, and grandchildren Benjamin Plessel and Dakota Plessel, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dick was a long-time resident of St. Paul, where he began his career as a plumber right out of high school, and enjoyed an early retirement at the age of 58. He and Mary lived out their retirement dreams in a house on a lake in Ironton, MN, eventually made the move half-way back to Mora, MN and finally returned “home”, to the east side of St. Paul.
Dick and his daughter Dana remained very close throughout his life, and have shared countless wonderful times together. The best times in his life were being out in the woods, clearing land, cutting trees, fishing and hunting - especially with his brothers. He was extremely talented with all things wood, and loved to laugh and spend time with family more than anything.
Visitation is Monday, April 22 from 4-6pm, with a service immediately following at 6:00 all at Anderson Funeral Home, 1401 Arcade Street N (Hwy 61), St. Paul.
