Age 91, of Florida, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 in the home of her daughter Lynn and Lynn's husband Robert in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late James B. Swanson, who died April 3, 1986. Born in Biwobik, MN, she was the daughter of the late, Arvid and Anna A. (Niemi) Frants. LaVerne was employed at the University of Minnesota for five years, and then went to work at the State Capitol where she worked in the secretarial pool. She then worked as an Administrator for Minnesota State Senator John Chenoweth, and finished her career as a research writer for the Senate. She enjoyed shopping, reading, playing Bridge, camping, traveling and swimming. Survived by her daughters, Lynn S. Kohler and her husband, Robert of Bethlehem with whom she resided, Lise Ann Anderson and her husband, Daryl of Maplewood, MN; son, James B. Swanson Jr. and his companion LuAnn Fry of Forest Lake, MN; a brother, Byron Frants of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Glenna Fleck of Falls Church, VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Steven Kohler (Karlene), of Allentown, David Kohler (Jessica) of Macungie, Daniel Kohler (Caitlin) of Bethlehem, Erik Anderson (Sarah), Tallis Anderson (Brandi), Logan Anderson (Jackie), Amy Downey, Julie Lujan (David), two step-grandchildren: Heidi Buelow and Jenny Petersen, all of the Twin Cities, MN; and eleven great-grandchildren: Ethan, Ryleigh, Raegan, MaKenzie, Nick, Travis, Brianna, Lizzie, Sydney, Olivia, and Ashlyn. Preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Don Frants, and sister, Faye Ann Craig. Funeral Service 12 Noon on Monday, June 23, 2014 at ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 1401 Arcade St (Hwy 61), St. Paul, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial following the service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Heartland Hospice, 881 Marcon Blvd, Suite 3700, Allentown, PA 18109.
