Obituary of Richard St. Germain

Age 80, of Maplewood. Passed away peacefully at his home on July 13, surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Richard & Margaret St. Germain and his sister Ruthlyn & brother-in-law Robert Clemons. Survived by Betty, his loving wife of nearly 60 years; children Patricia (Jerome) Gilligan, Colleen (Rodney) Nelson, David St. Germain (Kent Apostol) & Sandra (Jon) Bengtson; grandchildren Peter, Michael, Patrick & Thomas Gilligan, Peter, Laura (Matt) Capelle & Andrew Nelson, Jonathan St. Germain (fiancée Alyssa), August & Olivia Bengtson; sister Rochelle (Patrick) Reilly; and many other family members & friends. Dick was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and beautiful handmade stained glass. He was an avid reader and loved gardening & camping. Dick graduated from St. Agnes High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's, Master's & Doctoral degree in Education/Administration from the University of Minnesota. He spent 28 years as an educator, retiring as Superintendent of the North St.Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District in 1989. Memorial service Thursday, July 17, 11:00 AM at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1669 Arcade St., St.Paul, MN 55196 with visitation 1 1/2 hours prior. Private interment Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society or Gustavus Adolphus Church.
