Obituary of Maureen Conroy

Maureen P. Conroy age 83 of Baxter, MN died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 20, 2016.
Maureen was born April 5, 1933 in St. Paul, MN to Frederick and Gertrude Lowe. She married Raymond Conroy on July 17, 1954 in St Paul where they resided until moving to New Ulm, MN in 1964. While in New Ulm, Maureen was an active member of the New Ulm Country Club and was proud to serve as a "Turner Lady". Maureen was always busy with crafts and enjoyed embroidering dish towels and giving them as gifts.
After spending many winters as snowbirds, in 1991 Maureen and Ray retired to Sun City West, AZ where Maureen continued to golf and was in a bocce ball league. In addition she enjoyed having her children and grandchildren visit where they spent many hours playing mini-golf and card games. Maureen was also an active volunteer at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and at the Sundome.
Maureen is survived by her brother, Gene Lowe; and sister, Chloe Ann Kapaun both of Saint Paul, MN; son, Terry Conroy, and his wife Diane of Pillager, MN; and daughter, Lynn of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren, GySgt Joseph P. Conroy USMC, Timothy Conroy of New Ulm, MN and Kate (Adam) Silbernick of Prior Lake, MN; great-grandchildren Gavin and Stella Silbernick. Also special to Maureen were Brian (Jennifer) Helms and their sons Brayden and Wyatt of Marshville, NC along with other loving relatives and good friends.
Maureen was proceeded in death by husband Raymond; Ray’s brother, Donald Conroy; Maureen’s brother, Thomas Lowe; and sister, JoAnn Hollenbeck.
The family would like to thank the staff at Excelsior Place Assisted Living of Baxter for the loving, compassionate care they gave Maureen over the past year as well as St. Croix Hospice. Maureen will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes and friendly smile.
A family service will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at Calvary Cemetery in Saint Paul, MN.
