richard became our handyman and ended up as a friend. we will miss him greatly as i am sure will his family and friends. my memories of richard are many.
richard could fix just about anything. i recall one time he volunteered to repair my clothes drier. half way through he mentioned he'd never taken apart a clothes drier before. inside of an hour, he had it repaired and working.
richard loved NASCAR and spoke often about his experiences at Dayton beach. he had hoped to travel there again this winter.
richard was proud of his status as an electrician. he was constantly taking classes to upgrade his knowledge and raise his certification.
when richard stopped over, he would immediately sit down on the floor and call "puppies, puppies, puppies." our yorkies would come running. they loved richard and would jump into his lap and give him kisses and affection.
richard and i would go out to eat whenever we had time after he finished his work. he enjoyed culvers and especially their butterburger dinner. we'd sit and chat. he always had interesting things to say and observations about the world around him. he was kind and never had anything bad to say about people or groups.
richard was proud of the help he gave his aging parents and was happy that with his support and the support of his brothers, his folks were able to remain independent into their 90s.
my wive and i and our loving yorkies will miss richard very much. he was a decent man and a good friend.
