Obituary of Joel Penman Sr.

Joel Penman, Sr. was born to William and Roberta Penman on July 8, 1951. He has six siblings. Joel graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1969; attended Community College and obtained his real estate broker license. Joel served in the Navy. He also enjoyed tennis and jogging. Joel married Catherine B. Bowie on September 16, 1981. To this union was born Joel Penman, Jr. Joel lived a flashy lifestyle and lived large. He hosted many grand gatherings of friends and family in his home. Joel’s sense of humor was well known, and he could always make you laugh with his witty sayings. Upon his death Joel was a member of Redeemer Baptist Church in Oakdale, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Johnson and stepfather JC Johnson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife (Catherine); three sons Joel, Jr. (Carrie), Antoine (Traci) and Anthony (Kubefhini), one daughter Joann (Rob); five sisters Lorraine (William) Stanton, Phyllis (Richard) Plummer, Valerie Smith, Darlene King and Patricia Thomas (cousin-sister); one brother William (Alma) Penman; Greg Crothers – best friend/brother; 9 grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
