Obituary of Marvin James Sigmundik
Marvin J. Sigmundik passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the age of 69 due to Asbestos and Agent Orange exposure during his service in the U.S. Navy for two tours of duty in Vietnam from 1965-1969. Marv is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Joan, with whom they had two children, JoAnn Sigmundik Shimota and Marvin; three grandchildren, Abby Shimota Gibson (Tyrell), Alex Sigmundik, Gabrielle Shimota; brother, Vincent (Butch) Sigmundik; brother and sister-in-law's, Eugene (Pudge) and Joyce Trepanier, George and Lisa Schwantes; along with many nieces, nephews, countless friends, and loyal companion "Eddie." He was preceded in death by father and mother, Vincent (Wink) and LaVerne Sigmundik; mother-in-law, Lorraine Schwantes; aunt and uncle, Phil and Alice Roberge; three sisters, Lillian Schire, Rosemary L'Heureux and Darleen Hynes. Retired owner/operator of Phil Roberge Mfg. Company, South St. Paul and member of the North St. Paul VFW Post 1350 and American Legion Post 39. Special thanks to HealthEast Hospice and his nurse, Sonny, for the professional care and attention to Marv's needs. Funeral Service to be held 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1669 Arcade Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota. Visitation will take place at the Church the night before, Thurday, August 24, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., and 1 hour prior to the service. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
