Jeffrey Scott Fowler

Jeffrey S. Fowler, 54, of 913 Orange Ave E, St. Paul, MN, went on to fight the people’s revolution in the next life September 21, 2017. He transcended to the Ethereal Battlefield from his home on the East Side of St. Paul.

A memorial celebration of Jeffrey’s life was held at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.  His beloved family, treasured friends and colleagues gathered to raise their glasses in honor of this man who touched so many hearts.  In keeping with his final wishes, he was cremated and his remains kept with his family.

Out of the steel mills, Jeff was a career social justice advocate and relentless union organizer from Granite City, IL, where he was born on November 14, 1962.  While his career organizing spanned more than thirty years, his most recent position was with AFSCME Council 5 in South St. Paul, MN, where he was an extremely effective, valuable organizer and contract negotiator, even offering his skillset to the other councils in different parts of the country on many occasions.

Jeff is survived by his son, Joshua Paul Fowler, of South St. Paul; daughters, Shannon Marie (Fowler) Wiener and Molly Kate Fowler; one grandson, John Francis Wiener IV and one granddaughter, Ellie Nicole (aka: Ellie May by “Pop”) Wiener, all of Cottage Grove.

He is also survived by his ball and chain, voice of reason and the love of his life, Lisa Thompson of St. Paul, with whom he shared “ownership/enjoyment” of his favorite pub, The Side Door Lounge.  His mother, Dianna G. Fowler of Granite City, Il.; sister, Carole Ann Presson of Collinsville, IL; and one brother, Kevin Fowler of Granite City; nephews, nieces and many extended family. 

Jeffrey lived his life to the fullest and never hesitated to help anyone at any time. When folks mention that a person would “give the shirt off of his back,” they were talking about Jeff and he set that bar very high.  He was a great man whose presence, advice, companionship, friendship, and abounding, uncanny knowledge of pop-culture trivia will be forever missed.

Enjoy drinking with Hunter and Hemingway. Keep the conversation interesting so we can all jump right in when we meet again. We all know that we don’t have to worry about that.  We all love you. Until we see each other again…
