Obituary of Craig Todd LoneTree

Craig Todd LoneTree, age 54, of Postville, Iowa, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 26th, 2017. Craig was born August 8th, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois to Spencer LoneTree and Sallie Benally. He was a proud marine and proud of his Ho-Chunk heritage. His Indian name was Wakanjamaniya (Thunder Walker), a descendant of Chief Winneshiek of the Thunder Clan and Bear Clan Chief, Tohee, of the Iowa Tribe. He graduated from Johnson High School in Saint Paul and attended Inver Hills Community College. He was a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities and had recently moved to Postville, Iowa to care for his father, Spencer, a cancer patient.

Craig enjoyed construction work – especially traveling and doing restoration work on Hurricane damaged homes and properties in Florida and other Southern States. He was a die-hard Cheesehead and loved his green and gold team from Green Bay, as well as the Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Survivors include his father, Spencer; and his mother, Sallie Tsosie; brothers, Clayton of Flagstaff, AZ, Scott of Saint Paul, MN, Daniel of Tomah, WI, Richard and Ryan of Arizona; sisters, Bettina of Baraboo, WI, Lisa of Saint Paul, MN, Shirley of Cloquet, MN, Valerie of New Mexico, and Gail of Arizona; uncles, Jacob of West Saint Paul, MN, Gregory of Eagan, MN; aunts, Janice, Diane, and Kathyleen of Denver, CO, and Bernice of North Dakota; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel and Ann LoneTree; uncles, Rawleigh, Gary, Jonathan, and Demetrius; aunt, Sandra; and cousins, Sheila, Alicia, Shelly, Jason, and Michelle.

Funeral Service will be 12:00p.m. on Monday, November 6th, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home, 1401 Arcade Street (Hwy 61), Saint Paul, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. and continue until the service at noon. Rev. Marlene Helgemo of the All Nations Church in Minneapolis will officiate. Interment with full Military Honors will take place at 2:00p.m at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
