Thomas W. Olson
Loving Husband, Father, and Grandpa
Born and raised in St. Paul, Tom was proud to make his home on the Eastside for all of his 70 years. A graduate of Johnson H.S.’s class of ‘66, Tom attended Lakewood and Anoka Ramsey colleges and spent four years in the U.S. Airborne Reserves. Tom met the love of his life, Leslie, while working at the YWCA, and on June 22, 1974 they married in Bloomington, Illinois. Before retiring from West Publishing after 33 years of work, Tom was an amazing athlete who was active in many sports leagues. Tom enjoyed fantasy football and was an avid supporter of the Wild, Twins, Vikings, and the Johnson Governors and St. Cloud State hockey teams. Tom loved Jesus Christ and was a faithful servant of the Lord. In retirement, Tom’s ministry was rescuing Bibles from estate sales and thrift stores to send to churches in need around the world, which he loved doing. A great man and dedicated father, he was selfless and always there for his kids and anyone else who needed him. Although he will be dearly missed, take solace in knowing he has been happily reunited in Heaven with his dear wife Leslie.
Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Leslie; parents, Roy & Alice; and brothers, Bob Sattler and Dick Olson. Survived by children, Becky (Dan) Johnson, Keith Olson, and Rochelle (Matt) Stephenson; grandkids, Braelyn and Carter; sister, Pat Gill; special nephews, Mike Schmit and Mike Olson; and many cherished friends and family. Memorial Service 11:00am on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Amazing Grace Assembly of God, 1237 Earl St, St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, Memorials Prefered.
