My Lineman
He climbs from bed, pulls on his jeans,
His boots are on the floor;
It doesn't take a second,
And he's heading for the door.
In the truck and on the street,
He's quiet as a mouse;
It's sure a strange ole feeling
All alone in our big house.
My husband is a lineman,
And he's called out at night;
As I stand by the window,
It's not a pretty sight.
The ice and wind are blowin' round;
The sleet is in the air;
The people want their power on;
There's havoc everywhere.
Each time he leaves I always think
This time could be the end;
He risks his life but doesn’t complain-
My lineman, my best friend.
