I knew Michael for over 30 years starting when we were both finishing our Sr. year of Electrical Engineering. Our last quarter of school we worked together building a working Fluxgate compass for one of our courses. I had never heard of one, but Michael had read about them in an engineering magazine. It bothered me for many years after that the rental cars I used never even had an 8-position fluxgate compass when we had built one as undergraduate students. The first year after college we were both working in Europe for our companies and it just somehow worked out that that we flew home together on the same plane. I remember Michael's comment was 'Isn't this great! We are both engineers now and get to travel the world together'. I was able to visit Michael several times in South Carolina and once in California. Most recently we were able to invite Michael to enjoy several days with us boating on the St. Croix river in 2017 and a few times in 2018.
I will miss my friend.
